The PEI Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) recognizes that the unique lifestyle that accompanies military service can provide families with additional stressors. One of these stressors is finding suitable childcare during non-traditional childcare times, such as on evenings and weekends.
Pending availability of funds, the PEI MFRC can reimburse military families up to $50 in a calendar month to assist with childcare expenses. Funds are for military families (regular force or reserve) living in Prince Edward Island and are intended to support the member in the fulfillment of their military service.
Priority will be given to military families experiencing a deployment. Once this population has been served, the funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until the monthly allotment of funds has been distributed.
In order to access funds, the member or their designate must complete the Respite Childcare Funding Form and send to the PEI Military Family Resource Centre. A cheque shall be prepared and can be mailed or picked up at the MFRC within one week of the request being made.
Members and designates may apply for funding more than once in a fiscal year; however, priority will be given to those who have not yet received funding.
